The 1940's "Couture" Dress

Red Dress Shoppe *Exclusive* by Stop Staring Clothing.  Inspired by 1940's Chanel haute couture ... you'll look like a vintage Vogue cover girl in this dress! 

The fit on this dress is amazing!  Even if you have had problems with the fit of these Stop Staring dresses in the past, you must give this one a chance!  I, myself, could not wear Stop Staring dresses because the armholes were too small for my big arms, and I am petite, so the waist on the small was too small, but the bust/shoulders on the medium were too big.

BUT - The Couture Dress... Fits like a glove, and feels like a dream!  The gathered pleats not only gives this dress a touch of sophistication, but it hides those unsightly bumps and buldges AND it gives extra stretch for a comfortable fit around the waist!  The armholes are wide and open, and the sweetheart neckline accentuates the bustline...which looks sizzling hot...no matter what your bust size is! 

The soft textured luxury weight stretch fabric has a light sheen, and it drapes your body comfortably and beautifully ... Who doesn't love the appearance of a perfect figure?  Five black satin buttons adorn the side with a glamorous satin sash for a truly authentic 1940's look, as well as along the offsetting shoulder.

The "Versailles" Suit

A suit influenced by old world European charm!  The Versailles suit is comprised of a short coat that is hooded, 3/4 sleeves, and 3 large shiny buttons embossed with a gold heart.  White piping creates contrast detailing.  The hood is perfect for unpredictable weather!

The skirt is A-line with a fold-over waist line, can be worn up for a "high waisted" look or folded down.  White suede heart patches with gold decorative rivets adorn the back and the end of the side pocket slits.  Real working pockets make this skirt a charmer.  Zips up the back and bottom hem hits above the knee.

Aircrews in WWII decorated their planes with pictures of pinups and "cheesecake" girls as a form of attaching a good-luck charm to the aircraft, warding off evil, a psychological protection against the stresses of war, and evoking memories of home and peacetime life.  While the practice originally started for practical reasons - a way to identify friendly units - it evolved to express the individuality often constrained by the uniformity of the military. 

The Memphis Black Dress is a vintage reproduction dress inspired by the pretty dames that graced the nose art on WWII aircrafts! 

This dress is a lightweight black stretch cotton with authentic vintage style features.  The foldover collar is slightly asymetric, with a large attached bow and black decorative button for detail.

The sleeves are capped with a fitted bodice and a matching fabric covered detachable belt.  The skirt is a nice swing skirt for fullness and a retro sillouette.

The Orpheum theater presented some of the most dazzling women in the 1930's, from burlesque queen Sally Rand to a young Judy Garland.
