The 1940's "Couture" Dress

The fit on this dress is amazing!  Even if you have had problems with the fit of these Stop Staring dresses in the past, you must give this one a chance!  I, myself, could not wear Stop Staring dresses because the armholes were too small for my big arms, and I am petite, so the waist on the small was too small, but the bust/shoulders on the medium were too big.

BUT - The Couture Dress... In 1956 - what some regard as the wedding of the century - was that of American film star Grace Kelly to Prince Rainier of Monaco. The Princess of Monaco became a fashion icon, representing a legacy of glamour as well as looking poised in the everyday wearable looks of the 1950's.

The Monaco dress embodies a a mix of the effortless style and sophistication of the 1950's!  The bodice features a portrait collar, with quarter sized black gem cut buttons for detailing. The back opens up into a beautiful "V" cut with a stylishly designed fold over lapel.

The cool cotton fabrics and the relaxed fit were appreciated in the 1950's by women living in warm climates in this era before air conditioning. And, the wide arm holes and loose fitting waistline were great for doing household chores!

The "Anna" Dress

The "Memphis Black" Dress

Aircrews in WWII decorated their planes with pictures of pinups and "cheesecake" girls as a form of attaching a good-luck charm to the aircraft, warding off evil, a psychological protection against the stresses of war, and evoking memories of home and peacetime life.  While the practice originally started for practical reasons - a way to identify friendly units - it evolved to express the individuality often constrained by the uniformity of the military. 

The Memphis Black Dress is a vintage reproduction dress inspired by the pretty dames that graced the nose art on WWII aircrafts! 

This dress is a lightweight black stretch cotton with authentic vintage style features.  The foldover collar is slightly asymetric, with a large attached bow and black decorative button for detail.

The skirt has pleating detailing for a soft not-too-tight fit.  The overall fit of this dress is a bit "slouchy", but still flattering.  Looks great with black tights!

The Sundance 1960's Dress

A cotton sun dress in a 1960's vintage apron style floral print.  Large flower petals in hues of coral, soft brown, and taupe. The bodice features a coral "bib" accent piece, with delicate lace detailing. 

The brown side panels are slimming and continue to the back of the dress.  The waistline is a high empire waist, which is elasticized in the back for comfort and fit.  The bottom hem hits right above the knee... however, the skirt is not lined.

100% Cotton.  Machine wash gentle, hang dry.
